Why Water Cannot Be Used As A Thermometric Liquid?

Because water has low boiling point and high freezing point compared to other thermometric liquids... Water boiling point is 100 Celsius.. Freezing point is 0 Celsius.. So we can measure the temperature range.. Due to this constraints it is not used as a thermometric liquid..

Another

Because water has higher freezing point and lower boiling point than other thermometric liquids. water has high specific heat capacity so that it does not take up negligible temperature of the hot body being measured water is transparent as well so it makes the reading of the scales of the thermometer more difficult , water wets the glass tube so its steady in glass tube.

You’ve got some interesting points in this article. I would have never considered any of these if I didn’t come across this. Thanks!. site glass windows

You have been able to convince me about how water is not suited as a thermometric liquid. Thanks

I didn't get it im still confused but it really answer the other question i have in mind..thanks and keep up the good work😊😊

Water has high boiling and freezing point. Since water is transparent and the reading cannot be seen. It wets the wall of capillary of the thermometer. It is vaporizes easily. Since its expansion rate is non-uniform
